The Cookout
In 2022, a collaboration was born between two exclusively black and queer artist collevtives; BLKINMOTION and 7000COILS, an international sacred art house, label and healing portal!
The Cookout was our brainchild, birthed from the dreams of our inner children who were all craving a safe, communal, healing space for people like us, a bunch of black queer & genderqueer folx.
Since its inception, The Cookout has grown to hold the joy, liberation and curiosity of over 300 community members annually while staying true to our mission of intersecting healing and party spaces. The 2024 edition of The Cookout will be stewarded by 7000COILS and the After Party Munch will be stewarded by B. Tourmaline.
We honor the land and labor of the Ohlone people, recognizing their stewardship and connection to this land, ancestrally and present day. In alignment with our mission toward collective liberation, we acknowledge that the land on which we gather today is the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ohlone people and that this land should be repatriated.

Our Ethos
We believe that it is imperative for our healing and expansion as Black, Queer and Trans beings that we have affinity spaces where we can address our joy, liberation, pain, restorative processes and growth. In all that we do as two collectives joining forces, we uplift, honor and hold the sacred nature of Black queer and trans lives and work to support our community first and foremost. We acknowledge that we are committed to learning and growing as collectives as we work towards building new worlds.
